Recently a 3D printing video has circulated around social media, purporting to show new 3D printing technology. This technology isn’t actually new, but it may just be entering the phase where it is actually economical to do. Still, although it isn’t new technology, it is revolutionary.
What makes this technology so revolutionary is basically because of the speed at which it can print a structure. While current 3D printing can take hours for even a small object, this new form of the tech can actually build things within a matter of minutes.
The way it works is also very interesting (and the reason for why it is much faster). Current printing requires layer upon layer of materials to lain on top of one another in order build it to completion, which means that where the building blocks are coming out from need to be constantly on the move, but this new printing model uses light to harden the substance, which is a lot faster.
It accomplishes this by adding air into the substance, which when UV light is focussed upon specific areas, causes a reaction to occur and the substance hardens.
